Highlight of the Position

Leads plant activities in creating a culture of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and systematic problem solving with a focus on elimination of waste.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Determine and establish best (standard) working methods.
  • Establish and maintain cycle time and efficiency standards for production cells.
  • Lead plant problem solving training and activities in conjunction with the Quality department.
  • Continually optimize process and material flow for the plant. Requires analysis and planning for both current and future business.
  • Development and implementation of plant wide Henniges Production System (HPS) Lean Manufacturing Plan.
  • Plant Sensei (teacher/coach) supporting staff and resources in the development of HPS principles and tools (value stream mapping, single minute exchange of dies - SMED, 5S).

Qualifications/Requirements/Competencies

  • Proficient verbal, written and presentation skills; communicate clearly with creditability and confidence.
  • Communicates effectively (verbal and written) with individuals at all levels inside and outside the company.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives and recommended optimal solutions for various situations.
  • Consulting and influencing skills consistent with the ability to build relationships and influence parties; may include getting parties to embrace changing expectations and initiatives.
  • Promotes an atmosphere conducive to the open exchange of new ideas, and alternatives to orthodox approaches.
  • Ability to develop/coordinate cross-functional work groups/projects - yielding optimal outcome.
  • Working knowledge of a financial and economic analysis, project management, risk management.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and develop optimal recommendations and solutions.
  • Proficiency in the following software applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; sufficient to apply and/or support the application with minimal instruction or guidance.
  • Deals effectively with resistance; takes positive steps to avoid the recurrence of errors through constructive critique.

Education

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or similar field, and/or equivalent work experience.

Experience

Minimum: Knowledge and skills typically acquired through three-plus years’ experience in manufacturing or engineering. Broad knowledge of lean manufacturing tools such as value stream mappings, 5S, SMED, Kaizen and Kanban.

Preferred: Working knowledge of CAD software.
